91制片厂 fitness program for older adults featured on 'WGME'

U-ExCEL, a program from the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine (91制片厂 COM), was featured in a story as part of the 鈥淢aking a Difference鈥 series on WGME. U-ExCEL, which stands for 91制片厂-Exercise and Condition for Easier Living, is an auxiliary program of 91制片厂 COM鈥檚 Division of Geriatric Medicine that contracts with area organizations and housing environments to provide fitness and wellness programming and education.
U-ExCEL focuses on functional fitness promoting the broad spectrum of health for older adults living in the community, in nursing homes, assisted living settings, or in independent housing on life care campuses. The program encompasses individuals' health and fitness goals along with current medical diagnoses to improve or maintain function through the provision of functional fitness techniques including strength, balance, endurance, nutrition and other supportive wellness interventions.
Erica Robertson, U-ExCEL fitness director, designed and implemented the program with the Alzheimer鈥檚 Association, Maine Chapter. Taylor Feuti 鈥14 is now working as a fitness specialist with the program.
